Terms of use

These terms apply when you use websitescanners.com ("the site"). The site is run by Web Designer Limited, registered in England and Wales, company no. 15002899, "we" or "us". Registered office: 119a Flat 2 Uxbridge Road, London W7 3ST. ICO registration ZC283618. By running a scan, you agree to these terms.

What the scan does

The scan makes a small number of ordinary, public requests to the web address you enter, as a normal web browser would. It reads the page, its headers and security certificate, and the domain's public DNS records, and it checks up to 20 links on that page. It doesn't scan ports, test for vulnerabilities, try to log in, fill in forms, guess hidden pages or crawl the whole site.

Only check sites you're entitled to check

Only scan websites that you own, run, or have permission to check. Don't use the site to harass, overload or attack any website, to get around our limits, or to scan automatically or in bulk. We limit how often anyone can scan, both per visitor and per website, and we may block use that looks like abuse.

Results are for information only

Results are automated, general and based on a single moment in time. They aren't a security audit, a penetration test, legal or accessibility compliance advice, or a guarantee that a website is safe, secure or lawful. Some checks may miss problems or flag things that aren't really problems. Please get proper professional advice before relying on a result.

No charge, no warranty

The site is free, and we provide it as it is, with no promise that it will always be available or error-free. We can change or withdraw any check, or the whole site, at any time.

Our liability

Because the service is free, our total liability to you for anything to do with the site is limited to £100. We aren't liable for any loss that comes from relying on a result, or for loss of profit, business, revenue or data. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Links to other tools

Some results link to free tools run by others, such as Google PageSpeed Insights. Their own terms and privacy policies apply there.

Changes and law

We may update these terms. The version on this page applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you can also bring proceedings in your own nation's courts.
